Homeschooling Encouragement |
Tip for the day: Set a schedule that your children can follow. Teach it to them, and enforce it until it becomes a habit. When you are multi-tasking, juggling many important tasks, their schedule, once learned, will keep them going and teach them to be self-learners.

Here’s the editorial review from the website:
Homeschool PJ Time: A Bedtime STEM Book has it all! STEM lessons, adventure, rhyme, activity ideas, and a celebration of being a homeschool kid! Written by a homeschool mom who understands that lasting lessons start at home, and if you’re willing to look, you can find educational lessons all around you, from ice cubes in your cup to campfire heat.
Homeschool PJ Time wins the trophy by offering suggestions for easy-to-understand STEM activities any child can try. Every year, thousands of families make the decision to home-educate and Homeschool PJ Time fills a gap in the book world by celebrating the life of a homeschool family.

Legislative Highlights |

The Laws Matter |

Legislation Summary for 2022
THEA pays a reporter each year from Chapter dues to watch Tennessee education legislation.
The 2022 legislative season had some good bills that were signed by Governor Lee that could positively effect home education.
Such bills included: SB1861 (Hensley) HB1895 (Ragan), As introduced, requires the commissioner of education to withhold a portion of the state education finance funds that an LEA is otherwise eligible to receive if the LEA fails or refuses to determine a student's gender, for purposes of participation in school sports, by the student's sex at the time of birth…amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 6.
HB1959 (Wright) SB2370 (Lundberg), As introduced, creates an opportunity for high school students to complete a state college of applied technology program by the student's graduation from high school. - amends TCA Title 49.
SB2476 (Bowling) HB2575 (Doggett), As introduced, specifies that if an anonymous report of harm is made to the department, a juvenile court must not order the parents … to allow the department entrance for purposes of interview, examination, and investigation unless the department has presented evidence corroborating the anonymous report of harm. - Amends TCA Title 37.
Our next legislative season is January to April 2023. Those are the months when TN decides on bills for our state. Click here to sign up for weekly summaries recorded in the THEA Observer.
