"I had the right idea but a poor execution."
Have you ever found yourself in the above realisation?
Sucks, eh?
to know that you were on the right track with a project but lacked sufficient practical knowledge to properly execute it.
This happened to me while I was starting my freelance writing business and trying to build on my existing creative platform. I realised that self-doubt can often creep in when we're doing something for the first time.
But guess what? Everyone has had their first time!
You may have studied the matter multiple times, followed a step-by-step guide, come up with a strategy, and even started with the implementation—all that only to find yourself crippled by what others in the industry are saying about how to package your product or services.
And before you know it, you’ve backtracked on your initial idea.
Trust me, sometimes it's the right thing to do—to take a step back so you can jump better, but hear me when I say this: there's a chance that a new investigation will validate your initiative instead of disproving it.
And when that happens, you will probably palm your face and think that you wasted lots of time trying to align yourself with what others are saying about your business.
But those people are only talking about what they know, and frankly, you should do the same.
Talk about what you know.
Apply what you know.
Do more research, yes, but start with what you already know about your business.
You can always improve down the line. And yes, it stinks to have to course-correct, but that's just how it works—it is all part of the process.
This is your friendly reminder to never let self-doubt impede your progress.
Let’s be encouraged and have a great week ahead!
