An Apple a Day... Do they REALLY keep the doctors away?
Growing up, I never quite liked apples. Sure, I ate them whenever I was offered one, but I'd never CONSCIOUSLY choose an apple.
But for some reason, everyone around me kept saying "An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctors Away"...
Was it even true? I had no clue. But I ate it anyway. What did I know? I was just a kid.
Fast forward two decades and apples are now one of my favorite fruits. I love having them as "dessert", they wash down meals beautifully.
Sometimes, I'll go for periods without an apple and then from nowhere my body intuitively craves it.
Eating a freshly plucked apple post-meal feels like brushing your teeth with spearmint — you just feel FRESH!
If this has not been your experience at all, you've probably had poor quality apples. They are one of those fruits you never want to have in-organic.
You can literally taste the pesticide on it. It's a war crime how much of that shit they spray on them. Apples are part of the "dirty dozen" — a gang of fruit & veg with the most amount of pesticide sprayed on them.
Going back to the quote, it's obvious that an apple ALONE isn't enough for optimal health, but so much of modern science proves just how nutritious apples are.
It's even interesting that there's a study showing how an apple could be just as effective as a statin!
The first record of the quote comes from 1866, in 19th century Wales, where "Eat an apple on going to bed, and you'll keep the doctor from earning his bread" was published in a publication titled "Notes and Queries".
Ancient wisdom confirmed. Many Such Cases. Apples are actually almost like a multivitamin if you think about it. It's got vitamin C, antioxidants and is rich in so many nutrients.
It's even got a compound known as Apple Pectin, that has been studied to show a myriad of benefits for the gut, and even helps with detoxification.
I'd say my favorite apples are Fuji Apples, but really, I'd take any that's ORGANIC and FRESH.
