South Queens Chamber of Commerce Updates

What's happening in the South Queens Chamber of Commerce and the Business Community.

Happy New Year Queens County Business Community! The new year is upon us and January is flying by! First off, we'd like to THANK YOU for your continued support during these past few years especially the last few months! We understand that it has been a tough couple of years for Businesses in our community. And it is through our own resilience, community support and advocating organizations that we can continue to push through the changing economic environment.

For the volunteer Board of Directors of the South Queens Chamber of Commerce, we will continue to be here to listen, advocate and collaborate with municipal government and other organizations to provide what the business community needs, to the best of our ability. We really appreciate your support and patience! We are also humans, we get tired, we make mistakes, we have "passionate" discussions. That's also the one thing that keeps us united, is our passion to make things better for the businesses in Queens County.

Lunenburg-Queens Business Excellence Awards

It is with great pleasure that the Lunenburg Queens Business Excellence Awards committee announces the nominations for the 2022 Awards Celebration! After two long years, the LQBEA will again be celebrating business excellence in our region, and we need your help to acknowledge deserving businesses!

Go to www.lqbusinessawards.ca to nominate in six categories and receive more information about the awards.

The Innovation Award is new this year and includes a special grant of $5000 from the local MIT REAP to further fund the recipient’s initiative.

Please forward this notice throughout you network to nominate as many deserving businesses as possible!

We fully encourage nominations of businesses for this award, however, we feel it is important to disclose the information as follows:

SQCC representatives have discussed with Rae Bonneville (President) and Jennifer Naugler (Executive Director) of the Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce, and it has come to our attention that none of the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade organizations in Lunenburg-Queens listed on the lqbusinessawards.ca website have any partnership in the planning/decision making of this award.

We are asked to share with our members, and of course, we encourage nominations as it is great for the businesses. However, the sponsoring company is solely in charge of judging for the winner of each category. The Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trades do not have a voice in planning this award and decisions on winners. We hope to change that going forward.

2023 SQCC Membership Dues

Annual membership dues be will invoiced and sent to emails in the coming week, for those who have a January 1st - Dec 31st membership date. The annual fee for 2023 remains unchanged, at $90 for the year.

However, we have made a few changes as you'll notice on our website.

Increased Annual Membership for new members only.
Effective immediately, new members will pay the new rate as indicated on our website.

Increased Annual Membership for existing members.
Effective January 1st, 2024, all members will be invoiced the new rates. We understand that it may be tough for a small business. SQCC membership rates have stayed the same price for many years. And as we re-establish member benefits and events for the South Queens businesses (and beyond), we have added expenses such as special events insurances, operating costs, etc.

Join Anytime
The annual fees are now applicable when a new member joins, instead of Jan 1st - December 31st. Some members are already in this plan.
