The end of the year is fast approaching and with it the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This monthly Newsletter provides links to really interesting upcoming events which once again show the increasing visibility and traction disability inclusion is getting in the humanitarian sector and why it is so important to build on this momentum to keep supporting the genuine participation of OPDs in humanitarian Action. COP 27 has also been fantastic for disability inclusion in Climate Action and the next 2023 HNPW preparations should help us all keep advancing and showcasing good practice and progress in this area whilst acknowledging where more consistent efforts are needed.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, will convene the eleventh annual Global Humanitarian Policy Forum (GHPF), which will be held virtually on 7-8 December 2022.

The GHPF will bring together leaders from different backgrounds and sectors to share their perspectives on the current global landscape, marked by severe and intersecting geopolitical, health, and socio-economic challenges with significant opportunities and challenges for humanitarian action.

DEC. 6th 2022 - 3 PM CET

A new Annex to the Scorecard for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities opens the way for local governments to strengthen their capability to design, formulate, and implement policies that include persons with disabilities. This Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) webinar coincides with the release of this new annex. It provides a ‘window of opportunity’ for municipalities to engage people and communities previously overlooked.

The webinar will make the case that utilizing the new tool will prove to be an investment and not a cost for resource-constrained municipalities. The discussion will bring together representatives from local government and civil society.

9^th Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week (HNPW 2023) will be held in a hybrid format over a two-week period from 17 to 28 April 2023. The first week (17-21 April) will be held remotely, and the second week will be organized face-to-face from 24 to 28 April 2023 at the International Conference Centre (CICG) in Geneva, Switzerland.
