Our upcoming reading selection will be Remarkably Bright Creatures By: Shelby Van Pelt. After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope which she has been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors; until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova. Shelby Van Pelt’s debut novel is a gentle reminder that sometimes taking a hard look at the past can help uncover a future that once felt impossible.

Card Crafters

This month we are getting ready for the winter holidays. Tami will set up a “Christmas Card Buffet” featuring TEN different Christmas/winter card designs. You can make as many cards as you’d like in the two-hour session. If you really want one design, you can make more than one of that card. Each card will cost $2.00. I will send out a reminder on October 3rd. Please RSVP by October 7th. 

What: Christmas Card Buffet

When: October 12th, 1-3 pm

Where: Seminar room at North Branch Peoria Public Library 3001 West Grand Parkway, Peoria

Cost: $2.00/card (envelopes sold separately for a small cost)

Bring: Scissors, adhesive, and foam squares
