On this day, July 4, in 1776, a nation was declared and born through The Declaration of Independence.

Did you know? Already over a year old, the war (American Revolutionary War) would continue for another seven years until September 3, 1783 when Britain finally acknowledged the sovereignty and independence of the United States of America.

1️⃣ Houston County Republican BPOU meeting

When: July 11th at 6:30 p.m.

Where: The Well on Main (next door to Elise's, across from City Auditorium), 214 E Main Street, Caledonia, MN

We will cover various updates and topics, including an overview on the "How politics work in Minnesota" and key upcoming dates, including the upcoming caucuses on February 27th. 

Don't be shy! Join us and learn how to become involved in the grassroots to save our State and Country from the take over of the radical Marxist DFL. 

2️⃣Upcoming Parade Schedule

Our next parades: 

• Eitzen, 3:00 p.m July 4th (TODAY!). We will prepare and line up across from Hammell Equipment, starting at 2:00 p.m. If you can join us, see you there!
• Houston Hoedown, 12:00 p.m., July 30. 
• La Crescent AppleFest, 1:00 p.m., September 17.

Volunteers are needed and welcome: Come join us in the fun! We will need walkers for handing out candy, stickers and sports schedules as well as just those wanting to walk with signs or flags. Just drop us a note via email or just show up. 

The Houston County Fair is coming up and once again we will have a presence with our fair booth. 

We will need volunteers to help us staff the booth Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

We will send out a sign up sheet in early August for those that are able to help out.

Interested in learning more on how elections and voting works in Minnesota? This event is a must-attend if you are candidate, thinking about running for office or volunteer in races supporting candidates.

As a reminder, Minnesota politics operate on EVEN YEARS for election of delegates from Houston County to CD 1 and State. With the completion of the 2023's convention on April 1, our Delegates and Alternates wrap up their 2-year terms (as elected originally in February 2021 at our caucus). 

This means we will elect our new Houston County Delegates and Alternates on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2024 during the statewide caucuses.  SAVE THE DATE!

If you or someone you know wants to DIRECTLY REPRESENT HOUSTON COUNTY and be able to VOTE TO SELECT THE ENDORSED CANDIDATES,  including State and Federal (including the 2024 Presidential race), this process is how you can be elected as a delegate or alternate for Houston County for the next 2 years. 

2024 elections will include:

• US Presidential race (held currently by "Brandon", elections are every 4 years)
• US Senate race (held currently by Amy Klobachar, elections are every 6 years)
• MN House seat (held currently by our Rep. Greg Davids, elections are every 2 years)

Wondering what you can do today to help support your local Republican Party? A Political Contribution Refund (PCR) is super easy, simple and costs you nothing!

Literally, you can donate $50 or $100 for couples, to the Houston County Republicans and the State of Minnesota will refund you back your donation amount. These donations allow us to fund your BPOU and activities such as the Spring Grove Parade. 

How does this work?

Simple: If you are an individual, donate up to $50. If you are a couple, donate up to $100. After donating, you will get a PCR receipt from us. Complete the form from the MN Department of Revenue, attach the PCR receipt we gave you and mail it in. In 7-10 days, you will have up to $50 or $100 returned back into your checking account.

How can I donate? 

Mail, in-person or online. 

• Mail: Send your check to Houston County Republican Party; 137 Main Street, Caledonia, MN 55921. Attention: David Pieper. 
• In-person: Simply stop by 137 Main Street during normal business hours or attend a BPOU meeting. If you are attending the February 18th Convention Call, this is a great time to donate and get your receipt immediately.
• On-line: We now offer online donations directly from our website. Simply click the DONATE NOW button. 

How do I get the refund?

1. Donate
   
2. Obtain the PCR receipt from us
3. Complete the MN Dept of Revenue form
4. Mail the form and receipt into the MN Depart of Revenue
5. Wait 7-10 and check your bank account for the refund

Choosing the On-Line option, is simple and fast and we'll handle sending you everything you need in the mail. All you need to do is complete the refund information form and drop it in the mail!
