It has been a very sad time for whānau in our takiwā with the passing of many loved ones both old and young. May we extend our heartfelt aroha to all whānau who have felt the mamae of aituā, and that they be comforted in their loss and their sorrow.

We continue to support our paepae at Pōwhiri for the various manuhiri who have been welcomed to Te Aitarakihi for hui, namely, AWS kaimahi Hou, Whānau mahi Rangatahi, Te Whatu Ora, Te Putahitanga.

plus the blessing of the newly established Samoan Methodist Church in Gleniti.

Waitangi Whānau Day: 🌿❤️🌿❤️🌿

A fabulous turnout of old and young alike to our Waitangi Day Commemoration Whānau day and were treated to a host of entertainment, stalls with various arts and crafts, Taonga Māori, and Kai 💥🌟💥🌟💥🌟💥🌟Huge success 🌟🌟

Kapahaka has started back for 2023 with our two groups continuing to progress well in their respective levels.

Practices for Whakataetae rōpū are occurring on Sunday afternoons tutored by Haami Rahui and Raumiria Henare. The Whakangahau rōpū, tutored by Whaea Iri Wilson, and supported by Whakataetae, practice on Monday evenings from 6pm - 7.30pm.

Performances to date, since our last report has included Ignite performances before Christmas, Christmas on the Bay, Opening of Bay Carnival, Waitangi Whānau Day and the Netball teams Tactix Vs Steel performance.

Requests are coming in thick and fast for up and coming performances from local organisations. A busy year for Kapahaka coming up 🌿💥🌿💥🌿💥🌿
