Le Soula is a truly exceptional winery located in the rugged and montainous Fenouillèdes region of the Roussillon, surrounded by the picturesque foothills of the Pyrénées.
This biodynamic winery was founded in 2001 by Gérard Gauby, a highly respected vigneron in the region, who recognized the potential of higher altitude vineyards to produce wines with incredible finesse.

Since taking over the lead in 2016, Wendy Wilson, an accomplished and passionate winemaker with a deep commitment to biodynamic viticulture, has continued the legacy of producing exceptional wines that showcase the unique terroir of Le Soula.

Here, the terroir is truly unique, with granitic and poor soil, and a challenging climate that includes intense heat, cold and rain, and the Tramontane wind. Despite these challenges, the vineyards are managed biodynamically, providing a haven for local flora and fauna, including wild boar that emerge from the forests in search of water, grubs, and herbs.

Each bottle of Wendy's wines is a testament to the dedication, passion, and expertise of her and her team, who strive to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of this mountain. The freshness, vitality, and finesse of the wines are a true reflection of the exceptional quality and talent that Wendy brings to Le Soula.

Here are the six exceptional wines that I am excited to offer:

White:

• Côtes Catalanes ‘Trigone’ Blanc 2022
  A blend of Macabeu, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne, Rolle, Malvoisie du Roussillon, and Sauvignon Blanc.
  Lovely minerality with delicate floral notes, a hint of citrus and ripe stone fruits.
• Côtes Catalanes ‘Le Soula’ Blanc 2017
  A blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Vermentino, Malvoisie du Roussillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Macabeu.
  This wine is more complex and textured, with aromas of white flowers, honey, and apricots, followed by a subtle smokiness.

Orange:

• Vin de France ‘La Macération du Soula’ No. 21
  A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Macabeu, Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Marsanne, and Roussanne.
  This skin-macerated white wine is complex and layered with fruit, herbs, and spices.

Rosé:

• Côtes Catalanes ‘Le Rosé du Soula’ 2022
  Made from 100% Syrah, this rosé offers aromas of red fruits and flowers, and a refreshing acidity.

Red:

• Côtes Catalanes ‘Trigone’ Red 2022
  A blend of Syrah and Carignan.
  A medium-bodied red wine with aromas of red berries, herbs, and spices, and a touch of smokiness.
• Côtes Catalanes ‘Le Soula’ Red 2015
  A blend of Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache Noir.
  This red wine is complex and structured, with aromas of black fruits and spices followed by a long and elegant finish.

Who's behind Vins Purs?
Meet Dany, a seasoned wine industry professional with an extensive background in French gastronomy and culture. Growing up in Cahors, the brithplace of Malbec, a region of the South-Western France, Dany's passion for wine was cultivated from an early age. Over the past two decades, he's worked in various top restaurants throughout France, gaining invaluable knowledge of the importance of 'Terroir'.
In 2011, Dany relocated to London and spent 10 years specializing in small independent wine producers who use minimum intervention and produce their wine with love and care. He honed his skills and expertise at some of the most renowned natural wine places in London, eventually establishing one of the city's best natural wine bars. His London journey culminated in a role as a sales manager for an independent importer.
In the summer of 2021, Dany has landed in the Czech Republic and has embarked on a new adventure - representing some of the winemakers he's come to know and love. Join him on this exciting journey and discover the world of natural wine through Vins Purs.
