Nestled in the lesser-known region of Les Riceys in the Côtes des Bar, a dynamic winemaking duo, Marie and Olivier Horiot, have been crafting some of the most textural and un-matched elegant Champagne and still wines since 2000.
Situated
closer to Burgundy than the central Champagne towns, Les Riceys boasts a
distinctive terroir. Its unique blend of clay and limestone, same as
the Chablis’ Kimmeridge soil, sets the stage for these remarkable wines.
Ever since Olivier took over the reins from his father Serge, he started embracing biodynamic viticulture, natural vinifications and single-vineyard focus, resulting in terroir-driven creations.
Not only they cultivate the traditional Champagne grape varietals: Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay - but also the lesser-known grape varieties permitted in the appellation: Arbane, Petit Meslier, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. These unique varietals shine both in blends and mono-cépage cuvées.
Olivier and Marie's profound passion and innovative approach have been a revelation in the Champagne region.
Their cuvées, beloved by wine enthusiasts and beginners alike, have earned them a well-deserved reputation as champions of the region! |
