At my Christening. Don't you love my Mom's haircut, dress, and yellow starburst pin? Very 60s! And how is she so thin after having just given birth? Well, strange but true fact: they used to put women on diet pills while they were pregnant. OMG, what was WRONG with the doctors back then?! She had gained a whopping 25 pounds when pregnant with my brothers (what?! that is SO little!) and they decided that was not acceptable, so they gave her pills. It's amazing I turned out alright (relatively speaking) 🤪 and that she turned out alright.
Anyway, I'm glad she did because despite our roller-coaster relationship over the years, I love my mom. She's in assisted living now, but I still call her all the time. I sent her a ton of postage stamps and a Christmas ornament for Mother's Day. Believe it or not, she loves when I send her practical gifts. She doesn't really want jewelry or clothes or flowers anymore. I won't get to see her this year, but she'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
What are you doing for Mother's Day?
I hope you have a lovely day.
