After surveying 945 internet users, Tidio have discovered some intriguing insights into the potential of ChatGPT to reshape our digital landscape. 

A New Era of Information Retrieval

The most striking finding of the survey is that 70% of respondents believe ChatGPT will eventually surpass Google as the primary search engine. This shift would undoubtedly revolutionise the way we access and process information online.

Employment and Automation: A Growing Fear

As with any technological advancement, the fear of job displacement is pervasive. The survey reveals that 40% of respondents are apprehensive about ChatGPT's potential impact on the job market. These concerns beg the question: How do we balance the benefits of AI with the need to protect livelihoods?

The Medical AI Revolution

Interestingly, 60% of participants are comfortable with ChatGPT offering medical advice and health-related consultations. This finding suggests that AI could play a significant role in democratising access to healthcare.

The Academic Debate

ChatGPT's utility in academia is not without controversy. While 9% of respondents refuse to use it for academic purposes, a remarkable 57% would entrust ChatGPT with writing their thesis.

AI and the Art of Manipulation

One of the most alarming revelations from the survey is that 86% of respondents believe ChatGPT could be utilised for manipulation and control. This statistic underscores the need for ethical guidelines and regulations surrounding AI usage.

Commercialising ChatGPT

Not unlike Google Search, 63% of survey participants believe businesses should be able to advertise on ChatGPT. This raises further questions about the commercialisation of AI technologies and the implications for users' experiences.

The Human-AI Connection

The survey also revealed that 13% of respondents would engage in flirting or dirty talk with ChatGPT. Furthermore, 22% would use the AI to help them pretend to be someone else, and 17% would allow ChatGPT to write a wedding speech. Even more surprising, 14% would have it pen a breakup text to their partner.

Can AI Truly Create Art?

Finally, we put ChatGPT's creative potential to the test. An astounding 66% of participants mistook a poem by Sylvia Plath for an AI-generated one. This discovery raises thought-provoking questions about the evolving relationship between AI and human creativity.

As we continue to explore the capabilities of ChatGPT and similar AI technologies, we must remain vigilant about their potential impact on our lives. The results of our survey make it clear: the intersection of AI and humanity is both thrilling and fraught with uncertainty.
