The battle of AI productivity is heating up! 

Google has announced the integration of AI in Workspace, while Microsoft introduces Copilot for 365. Although it is unclear if these features will be immediately available for education licences, here's what we can expect:

Microsoft Copilot for 365

• Unleash creativity: Copilot helps with the creative process in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Unlock productivity: Copilot lightens the workload by summarising emails, drafting replies, and automating tasks.
• Uplevel skills: Copilot enables users to quickly master new skills with natural language commands.
• Enterprise-ready AI: Copilot combines GPT-4 with Microsoft 365 apps and business data, making AI accessible through natural language.
• Data protection and privacy: Copilot is secure and compliant, protecting tenant, group, and individual data.
• Learning new skills: Copilot is designed to acquire new skills and perform more sophisticated tasks and queries.

Google Workspace

• New generative-AI experiences for Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Meet, and Chat
• Gmail: Draft, reply, summarise, prioritise, tone
• Docs: Brainstorm, proofread, write, rewrite, tone
• Slides: Auto-generate images, audio, video
• Sheets: Auto-completion, formula generation, contextual categorisation
• Meet: Generate backgrounds, capture notes
• Chat: Enable workflows
• AI suggestions can be accepted, edited, or changed
• Administrative controls for IT policies

GPT-4 is here. If you have been using ChatGPT then you have probably been using GPT-3.5. GPT-4 is OpenAI's new language system. Here are some of the features:

• Problem Solving Prowess: Superior accuracy due to broader general knowledge
• Creative Collaboration: Generates, edits, and iterates with users on creative/technical tasks
• Visual Understanding: Accepts images for captioning, classification, and analysis
• Extended Text Handling: Manages 25,000+ words for long-form content and conversations
• Improved Safety & Alignment: 6 months spent refining; 82% less likely to produce disallowed content, 40% more factual than GPT-3.5

You can now use GPT-4 in ChatGPT if you are a Plus subscriber.

AI image generation has also entered a new generation. 

Midjourney has released v5 of its AI image-synthesis service, offering "creepy" levels of photorealism. Accessible via Discord, the alpha test has wowed users like graphic designer Julie Wieland, who explained, "Suddenly you see everything in 4k, it feels weirdly overwhelming but also amazing."
