Hello, My Dears!
I’ve introduced a number of new characters so far in Forget Me Not – Lena Weatherford, for one, and with this week’s episode, Nina Tarkington, Dorothy’s new employer. Are these characters going to continue making appearances as the story goes on, or are they like television guest stars who disappear after an episode or two?
It can be dangerous to introduce too many characters, and at the same time, it’s going to happen. After all, new characters walk into our own lives all the time – a new doctor, a new guild member, a new neighbor. What’s funny is that it’s so hard to predict how important they'll be to our story. I’ve met people at parties who I was sure would be friends for life, only to have plans to get together for coffee evaporate into thin air, never to be revisited again. On the other hand, seemingly minor figures have become major players over time.
I enjoyed writing this chapter, and I like Nina Tarkington. (I’ve just realized that two of our new characters have names that rhyme–Lena and Nina; now, that won’t be confusing!). We’ll see how long she gets to stay on the stage.
I hope this finds you enjoying the charms of spring (or fall). We’ve just gotten a new couch for the screened porch, and I can’t wait to spend all of my time out there, eating bon bons and scratching Travis’s ears. Paradise!
I hope you enjoy this week’s episode. Thanks as always for subscribing to the Story Guild. I couldn’t do it without your support!
