Hello, My Dears!
I hope you’re enjoying being back in Milton Falls, Ohio, as much as I am! Do you know that you’re listening to a work-in-progress? That means I don’t know where this story is going; I’m just driving the car that will get us there. I’ve never outlined a novel in my life (and sometimes it shows), in part because I like being surprised. I like it when a story goes off in a direction I never anticipated. One of my favorite things is when a character surprises me. That’s how I know they’ve become real people with minds of their own. It can be crazy-making–after all, shouldn’t I be in charge of the story? But mostly it’s a lot of fun.
In this week’s episode of Forget Me Not, Bess isn’t changing course, but she’s pondering how a big change – say, marriage to Joe – could complicate things. (Don’t get excited: Joe hasn’t proposed – yet.) After all, Edwina has just moved in, and life finally seems to have settled down after an eventful couple of years.
Speaking of love and marriage, is this the week we finally make it to the altar with Florence and Arthur? Tune in to find out!
Now for a couple of announcements: You’re getting something new on Monday – the first episode of Diary of a Mad Quilter! I can’t wait for you to meet Marnie Fetzer (retired third grade teacher, grandmother and a fervent quiltmaker), as well as her husband Darrell, best friend Sheila and a host of other folks. Set in contemporary Milton Falls, this is a funny and very quilty story. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. And yes, it’s another WIP. We’ll be publishing new episodes every other week, so mark your calendars!
