Dear

A new season has started at Leander Club and we are delighted to welcome a strong cohort of athletes to the club. Leander Club has been described as 'a machine with the single goal of producing international quality rowers' and that is us in a nutshell. Everything we do goes towards helping these athletes achieve their goal of competing for Team GB and we wish them all success in their great endeavours. We will keep you updated as to their progress.

The next major river-based event in Henley is the Illuminated Boat Parade. Last year was the inaugural event and despite inclement weather, more than 2000 spectators watched brightly lit and themed craft, processing from Fawley Meadow to Leander Club. Once again, the judging will take place here at the club and we are inviting everyone to enjoy the display and hospitality from the deck.

Our final event of the summer season is a jazz and blues night on 30th September. This event for Leander Members and their guests only is free to enter but we will need to know numbers for catering, so please book your place by emailing us at [email protected]. This is in place of the Oktoberfest which has regrettably been cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.

The Head of the Charles Regatta is on the horizon. Stateside Leander Members are invited to a drinks reception at the Somerset Club on Saturday October 21st at 6.30pm. Please email us on [email protected] to reserve your space. It's a chance to network and to meet our athletes.

I look forward to welcoming you to the club soon.

Kind regards,

Al Heathcote

General Manager
