HRR 2023: a triumph

Dear Members,

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Leander Club achieved a remarkable eight victories at Henley Royal Regatta. This has undoubtedly been one of the most successful and memorable years in the history of our beloved club.

We had a total of 60 exceptionally talented athletes racing across 15 crews on finals day, showcasing their skill and dedication to the sport. We couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them.

A special mention to our champions in each event:

๐Ÿ† Queen Mother - Leander / Nottingham

๐Ÿ† Prince of Wales

๐Ÿ† Goblets

๐Ÿ† Princess Grace Leander/ Leicester

๐Ÿ† Fawley (pictured: Freddie Foxwell, Guy Hutchins, coach Jonny Jackson, Nat Gauden, Byron Richards)

๐Ÿ† Town Leander/IC

๐Ÿ† Hambleden

๐Ÿ† Grand Leander / Oxford Brookes

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of Colgan Foundation and Digby Fine English. We are tremendously grateful for their continued partnership.

We are also hugely indebted to The Leander Trust which supports our junior athletes. The whole team is incredibly proud of our juniors' Fawley win and the Trust has played an essential role in that success - thank you!

But let us not forget the other stars of our club โ€“ our amazing Members! Your passion for rowing, camaraderie and sportsmanship create an atmosphere like no other. On Monday, we received a heartwarming email that simply stated, "You guys sure know how to throw a party." While we appreciate the kind words, it's your enthusiasm and love for this place that make it truly special.

So, let's raise our blades and toast to the club's success. Your continued support and dedication drives the whole team forward and motivates us to achieve even greater heights.

Head chef Jamie has devised a delectable new Summer Menu, now being served on the Deck and in the Clubhouse for lunch and dinner. Henley Festival is in full swing, which makes our garden a pretty perfect spot for an evening drink or meal.

Kind regards,

Al Heathcote
