Huge congratulations to our athletes who travelled to the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, USA. Oliver Costley and Rory Harris secured an outstanding victory in the Championship Double. A special shout-out must go to Leander's Bryn Ellery for a third-place finish, representing his old school, Windsor Boys. You'll find the M8+ cox's perspective on the race, below.

The HOCR drinks reception for US-based Leander Members was well attended. It's always heartening to witness the camaraderie amongst our global community.

As we gear up for the festive season, our calendar sparkles with exciting events including Curry Night on 30th November - gather a group and enjoy a perfect winter's evening of spicy curries and beers.

November Highlights:

New Members' Reception: On December 10th, Members who have joined us in the past three months are invited to join us for a Drinks Reception. Meet our President and General Manager, and network with fellow Members. Your warm welcome awaits!

Christmas Delights in December:

  • Christmas Market: sort all your present shopping in one go, plus trees, table decorations and wreaths
  • Christmas Ball: dance the night away in festive splendour - less than 20 tickets remain
  • Christmas Eve Long Luncheon: enjoy a stress-free meal on December 24th; bookings opening soon.

Our restaurant boasts a delectable Christmas Menu, available throughout December. Indulge in the season's culinary delights!

New Members' Drinks and Nibbles

New Members are invited to meet the President Dick Lester, General Manager Al Heathcote, and other Leander Club Members at a drinks reception on 10th December from 12pm-1pm. You'll find us in the Bar!

Our ever-popular Curry Night returns on 30th November. Gather a group of 4-10, get the beers in and enjoy sharing platters in a family-style service .Only £25 a head!

Water's Gleaming Gold is the true story of an extraordinary oarsman, Olympian, pilot, war hero and British rowing coach. Gavin Jamieson tells his tale on 9th November.

A very special evening for Full Members only on 18th November. Tickets are £55 and include three-course dinner and a drink. Call us on 01491 575782.

Rowing anthology hits shelves

Look out for stories from Leander Club Members and past Members in this new anthology from Hear The Boat Sing website editor, Göran R. Buckhorn. You'll find stories from current Members including Mark Blandford-Baker, Christopher Dodd, Robert Treharne Jones, Tim Koch, Peter Mallory, William O’Chee, and Thomas E. Weil.

Head of the Charles 2023 

Olly Costley and Rory Harris of Leander Club won the Championship Double Sculls by an impressive 7.5 seconds, with Leander's Bryn Ellery representing his old school in third place.

Leander eights largely made up of GB development athletes came fourth in both the Men’s and Women’s Championship events. The HOCR race report is here.
