June is Pride month. Supporting our LGBTQ+ friends, family and community is hugely important. Pride began as an uprising against police on 28 June 1969 in New York City after they raided the gay bar, Stonewall Inn. Stonewall was a refuge for many people but also many queer Black and Brown folk. The patrons of Stonewall fought back in what became known as the Stonewall Uprising. This was a catalyst for the modern LGBTQ+ movement (although it was not the beginning). Although things have gotten better, we must face the tough reality that LGBTQ+ folks still face. We must be allies, we must protect and lift up diverse voices. Please use this month to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community but also create safe spaces for those who need it. Read more about Pride.

It's a dip, there's no denying.
