European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) – 21-23 November 2022

The European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) brings together industry professionals, business developers, researchers and policy-makers from all over Europe and other regions of the world to advance policy actions and industrial and research activities in the areas of Data and AI.

This year, the event will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, on November 21-23, with a central theme of “At the Heart of the Ecosystem for Data and AI”.

On Tuesday, November 22 at 17.30 CET, EUCloudEdgeIoT.eu will participate in a 60 mins session which will provide a synopsis of how Europe builds and bridges the CEI landscape for seamless data management and analysis.

Meta Operating Systems Research and Innovation Actions

Europe needs to strengthen its supply and value chains in cloud to edge computing by integrating relevant elements of computing, connectivity, IoT, AI and cybersecurity. The European Cloud, Edge & IoT Continuum is excited to collaborate with the 6 funded MetaOS projects (aerOS, FluiDOS, ICOS, NebulOus, ΝΕΜΟ, NEPHELE) to support European industries, particularly SMEs, in taking up an emerging open edge ecosystem for nurturing a European network of innovators and developers.

LeADS at work to bridge the advanced digital skills gap between industry and education in Europe

Cloud technologies play an essential role in ensuring private and public service resiliency. A major obstacle to overcome is the capability of the European workforce and society to quickly take up on Advanced Digital Skills that are needed to be adopted and used in such technologies. To address this challenging situation, LeADS (Leading European Advanced Digital Skills), the first ever Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) digital skills Coordination and Support Action (CSA), was launched on November 18, 2022. LeADS aims to make Advanced Digital Skills part of a solution to the digital divide and unemployment that has been hindering the uptake and use of emerging key digital technologies.

Open calls

Open call (deadline 24 January 2023): Large-scale pilots for Cloud-to-Edge based service solutions

As part of the Digital Europe Programme, large-scale pilot projects will be launched aiming at the deployment at scale of innovative, sustainable, secure and cross-border cloud-to-edge based services applied in a set of well-chosen application sectors. These deployments will serve the double objective of, first, being the first actual concrete implementations and deployments of the middleware platform and its different open source middleware solutions serving the needs of a specific application sector and use case and the gained experience should feedback into this separate process. Diversity, both in geography and use cases, of the retained large scale pilot projects, will therefore be key in testing the versatility and robustness of the platform. The second objective is to deploy additional cloud-to-edge services that are particularly innovative and/or not (yet) of enough general interest to be procured for the common good.

HSbooster.eu Open Call for Projects

The HSbooster.eu Open Calls will provide the opportunity for ongoing or complete H2020 and Horizon Europe projects to apply for practical guidance to assess the standardisation readiness of project results and match them up with standardisation experts who can guide the project on how these results can feed into standardisation working groups or technical committees.

Applications are now open. To apply, you should provide information on the project, its standardisation-related objectives and what you hope to gain from the booster service. The call will run continuously, and services will commence in October 2022.

One of Hsbooster.eu's five core topics is sustainable digitalisation, including themes such as data quality and Artificial Intelligence (AI), access to usage of data, space, data cybersecurity, and quantum technology.
