Last week was Living Wage Week - a celebration of all the businesses, organisations and people who believe work deserves a fair pay.

Employers choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis - its based on the real cost of living and higher than the minium wage. It also provides an ethical benchmark for responsible pay.

At In Good Company, one of the first things we did was sign up to become an accredited Living Wage Employer.

The Living Wage Foundation was also one of our first partners, which means that we will showcase their members on our forthcoming platform so you can easily find small, independent Living Wage Employers to visit.

We think every week should be Living Wage Week so here's a selection of some accredited Living Wage Employers in London we love, covering everything from dining and drinking to shopping and cooking.

Eat

Mercato Metropolitano

You may well already know about this buzzy food market which started in Elephant and Castle and regularly appears on 'best things to do in London' lists. But you may not know that they have a mission centred around sustainability and community - and that they track themselves against the Sustainable Development Goals.

We're big fans of their VERY detailed impact reporting as well as the delicious food, drink and atmosphere they serve up at their four London sites. Plus they are an accredited official Living Wage Employer.

Drink

40FT Brewery

Low-pay and the hospitality sector have long gone hand-in-hand. Thankfully there is a whole new wave of bars and breweries saying no more, including 40FT Brewery, an independent brewery and taproom in Dalston, Hackney.

As well as being an accredited Living Wage Employer, they sponsor the local Tower Hamlets Women's Football Club and have created Dalston's Sunrise Fund, where 10% of profits from sales of Dalston Sunrise beers go to local charities which their staff select each month. Tastes good right?!

PS they are located in the same space as fellow good company Dusty Knuckle who serve the best bread and baked goods.

You can search by accreditation to find a Living Wage coffee shop next time you're out and in need of a caffeine hit.
