If you've been in Vanguard City for any length of time, you know that one of our most beloved places to relax among the trappings of our superheroes is Midnight Alley. But rumor has it that the owner, Scarlet Drakov could be selling this iconic Jazz club.

Say it isn't so Scarlett!

This news comes amidst sightings of a new heroic duo in Vanguard city. One of them has been spotted popping out of portals with Midnight Alley's infamous himbo bartender, Alejandro Martinez. Though this reporter will not comment on what body part of the portal wielding hero was spotted. (Use your imagination.)

This cocktail is named after favorite bartender Alejandro's nickname among The Alley's superhero patrons. Buckle up, much like Alejandro himself, it's spicy and not for the faint of heart.

• YaVe Jalapeno Reposado Tequila
• Shot of fresh lime juice
• Soda Water
• 3/4 oz Jalapeno infused simple syrup
• 1/4 Cucumber (for muddling)
• 4-5 Mint springs (for muddling & garnish)

To prepare the Hero:

1. Rim a shot glass with lime juice and salt.
2. Fill with tequila.
3. Set aside.

To Prepare The Jalapeno Cucumber-Mint Rickey Chaser.

1. Muddle the cucumber, lime juice, jalapeno simple syrup, and, if you prefer, a little of the mint at the bottom of a cocktail shaker.
2. Add ice and shake to mix
3. Add ice to a rocks glass and strain the mixture over ice.
4. Top with the soda water and garnish with mint and a wheel of cucumber.

Shoot the tequila first and chase with the Jalapeno Cucumber-Mint Rickey.

It's not enough to feature emerging heroes and the battles they wage against the rising super villain threat. The Beacon is more than a detailed blow-by-blow. Our mission is to highlight the heroes behind the mask. We feature their humanity.

I'm excited to take the helm and honor the work of the editors before me while building a new magazine for the modern citizens of Vanguard.
