This is the good news of Jesus the Christ: In baptism, we are born again to live in Christ. Today we witness the sacrament of Holy Baptism followed by the Sacrament of Holy Communion. These two sacraments bind us together with Christ and in Christ. Come and rejoice, welcome our new siblings at the font and at the table. Thanks be to God!

This month we are collecting PB&J (peanut butter and jelly and bread) for the food bank. We are also collecting new, packaged men’s underwear—sizes M, L, XL—and socks for Just Compassion. The quarter drive for Just Compassion’s laundry program continues as well. Drop quarters in the washing machine container on the table in the Narthex or write a check to the church and note Just Compassion on the memo line.

Singing This Week in Worship. We sing hymns to deepen our understanding of the Word we hear spoken. Be sure to read the commentaries our director of music, Tim Ditch, writes about each hymn. This week, there’s a veritable zoo of hymnwriters. Look for hymns by a Duck, a Wren, and even a Leech!

Quilters Meet. Quilting begins again Tuesday, September 19, at 9 am. Please enter through the Preschool (Haven Hall) doors. 

The Rainbow Faith Alliance invites you to join them on a journey of LGBTQIA+ allyship within the Christian community, involving storytelling, conversation, and education. This month, Stacey Roeder will share her journey of allyship from the perspective of a high school teacher and church youth leader. September 24, 7-8:30 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley, Beaverton. Women of the Bible meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Come along and meet the women who led Israel, followed Jesus, and helped shape the early church alongside Paul, Peter, and the other leaders. Cristo Rey Misa. Hermanos y hermanas, ven a celebrar la misa bilingüe el segundo y el cuarto domingo de cada mes a las 5 p.m. Gracias a Dios! 

Brothers and sisters, worship at bilingual mass the second and fourth Sundays of every month at 5 p.m. You don’t have to speak Spanish. The service is printed in both languages.
