Today we begin a long season of learning how to be disciples of Jesus Christ. We begin by recalling God’s covenant with Abraham and Abaham’s righteous response. For the next three months, we will hear excerpts of Paul’s letter to the Roman Christians. Take some time to read this epistle to the church in Rome. It was from his deep study of this letter that Martin Luther took on a new understanding of God’s grace and love through Jesus, the Christ. Come on along, immerse yourselves in the love of Jesus.

Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High. Psalm 50:14

Our thoughts are with the Conner family—Jane, Jeff, and Jen—at the death of husband and father, Jerry. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary and on Zoom on Monday, June 12, at 2 p.m. Reception follows in Haven Hall.

Hilde Konarzewski joined the church triumphant at 3 a.m. on Thursday, June 8. May she rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon her. She is at the throne of the Lamb, where she needs no light or lamp or sun. Christ is her Light!

Please pray for comfort and peace for her family, including Kari and Jeff, her daughter and son-in-law, and her granddaughters Ana and Marissa and their families. Hilde also has a brother in Wisconsin.

Thanks be to God for our beloved sister in faith, Hilde.

“Noisy Offering Update.” Your Wider Welcome Ministry Team thanks you for your generosity with the special “noisy” offering for our Reconciling in Christ celebration on May 28. Your gift of $433 will support the ministry of ReconcilingWorks throughout the ELCA. If you still want to contribute, make your check payable to Christ the King Lutheran Church with RIC on the memo line. You can drop it in the offering plate on Sunday or send it to the church office. Please continue to watch the bulletin board at the north end of the Narthex for upcoming events.

Meet Our Partners in Ministry and Mission. During the month of June, please bring boxed macaroni and cheese and put it in the food basket in the sanctuary. We will hear from Pastor Glenn Schroder, pastor of Cascade Vineyard Church and King’s Pantry food bank ministry coordinator on June 18.

Our congregation treasurer and council member, Diane Wearne, will be highlighting other ministry partners in July and August.

Pastor’s Schedule. Pastoral emergencies come at all hours and Pastor Dorothy is on call for those anytime. Her new office hours are Sunday for a couple of hours after worship, as needed, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Pastor Dorothy will be away on July 30 and August 20. We are looking for some fearless folks to step up and help with greeting the supply pastors and getting the Zoom Balcony set up, with help from Tim and Jonathan. There are step-by-step instructions. Get in touch with Pastor Dorothy or Tim to sign up.

Member Reception Sunday. We will welcome new members on Sunday, September 17. Maybe you know someone who is seeking baptism or community or fellowship. Invite them to experience God’s grace, welcome, and love at Christ the King! Please be in touch with Pastor Dorothy.

Brothers and sisters, worship at bilingual mass the second and fourth Sundays of every month at 5 p.m. You don’t have to speak Spanish. The service is printed in both languages.
