• A tight labor market means wage increases are inevitable as firms struggle to fill vacancies, but Singapore must guarantee salaries rise in tandem with productivity.
• Co-working facilities are an alternative to working from home and off-site meetings. In Q2 2022, its occupancy in Singapore was close to 90%, up 25% over the previous quarter.
• As economies recover from COVID-19, demand for global skills rises. Singapore's tailored approach to attracting elite global talents has its critics, but firms and experts agree the country must step up.
• More recruiters are using social media to vet job applicants. Except for Linkedin, hiring managers couldn't reliably forecast job success or turnover based on a candidate's online activities.
• An employer shared that he had offered a young woman an internship but rescinded it in under an hour when she requested an online interview.

Asana’s 2022 Anatomy of Work Index survey found that knowledge employees spend 58% of their time on 'work about work' rather than their function. Managers spent 62% of their workdays on 'work about work'.

"Work about work" includes looking for information, switching apps, talking about work, managing shifting priorities, and tracking the status of work.

While companies are stronger at using human abilities, strategy is suffering. There is a need to improve processes and streamline day-to-day tasks.
