Organizations like Unicef dedicate themselves to helping people across the planet. But other nonprofits dig deep to focus on their communities. Logan Heights Community Development Corporation has been helping its residents and showcasing their culture and achievements since 1995. CEO, Monte Jones, says, “Our whole purpose is to look along our streets in Logan Heights and see clean streets, affordable housing, and thriving businesses.” This is no small task. It requires services like early childhood education, youth empowerment, financial competency, and community engagement. Logan Heights CDC even developed a community garden with a tree house designed by residents.
I am part of Social Venture Partners, an organization dedicated to helping nonprofits like Logan Heights CDC build their capacity. We were honored to work with them to facilitate strategic planning, support leadership development, and to advise them about finance and budget planning. It’s inspiring to help an organization look ahead to expand its impact.
