Proverbs 19:20 tells us, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.” This encouragement from the Lord feels appropriate as we look at what Paul has to say to Timothy in the closing verses of 1 Timothy 5. Because, unlike many passages from the Apostle Paul that have a very clear throughline of thought, this section feels much more like a bullet point list of instructions for the Church that Paul wants to make sure he reminds Timothy of before he forgets! And yet, contained within this rapid fire list of commands are a number of essential elements to how it is the Church can both pursue and maintain spiritual, relational, and physical healthiness! So come and join us this Sunday as we worship the Lord together and better understand His instructions for us, His Church!
